What is a Resource?

Bookem uses the term 'resource' for a few things. Resources can be anything or anyone that is required to render a service. It could refer to a person (team member), a venue (place) or equipment piece (thing).

Note:

  • A service can't exist without a resource to render the service

For example, an initial consultation needs a resource(s) to render the service. Eg. A massage therapist (team member), room (place) and a massage chair (thing)

  • But a resource can exist and be booked independently

For example, a mobile massage table that your team members need when they do a home visit can be booked when necessary.

Examples of resources in practice

Typically, resources are associated with a service. In this example, An initial consultation sports massage needs two resources: Consultation Room 2 (venue), and Katniss (team member).

How to associate resources with a service

Resources must be associated with a services to allow bookings to be made.

Here's how:

  • Go to Settings > Resources

  • Select the service you want to associate a resource to to

  • Scroll down to 'Serviced by' and select a resource from the drop down

  • Add as many resources as necessary

  • Click 'Save'

  • Watch this short video to see how it's done

Bookem does not show the client these complex requirements

This is only visible to you on the back end. Your public booking page will only show available slots where both resources are available for a service as seen in the image below. Available slots are determined by the availability of the resources for services.

Resources that are part of groups can now be viewed with one click in Resource selection

Groups are useful for large teams. Just click 'Resources' from your calendar to view the drop-down:
