Understanding resources: People, places and things

Resources are the people, spaces or things needed to deliver your services. Bookem uses resources to manage availability, prevent double bookings, and ensure that everything needed for a session is in place.

A resource can be:

  • A person (like a team member)

  • A space (like a room or pool)

  • A thing (like a treadmill or massage table)

You need at least one resource to offer a service. Without a resource, a service cannot be booked.

Example of how resources work

In a hydrotherapy setting, a single session might require:

  • A therapist (person)

  • A hydrotherapy pool (space)

  • An underwater treadmill (thing)

Bookem will automatically check the availability of all assigned resources before showing available time slots to your clients.

Resources can either be:

  • Linked to services – this is the most common setup

  • Booked on their own – useful for shared spaces or equipment
