SMSs are a reliable way of communicating important information to your clients. They are customisable and you have control over when (on confirmation, on cancellation, reminders, etc) they are sent.
Team members can receive notifications for any changes to bookings. There is an option to receive notifications via SMS or email. Notifications can be customised as per your preference. Learn more about Bookem team member notification preferences.
Clients receive notifications related to their bookings via SMS or email. These are set up in Settings > Automated Messages. When you sign up for Bookem you will start with the default notification settings. You can set up new ones and edit existing ones and decide exactly when SMSs should be sent.
Tokens are Bookem's currency for SMSs, are paid for up-front and are not part of your monthly subscription fee.
SMS messages are limited to 160 characters. Longer messages may be split into multiple messages, with a charge of 1 token per message. Special characters may occupy more space than standard characters.
Tokens are charged based on the recipient's mobile provider's location. The cost of SMSs in your local currency to different destinations can be found by using the calculator on the Top up page.
What if you run out of tokens?
It is advised to have SMSs with email set as fallback set up for automated messages so that emails will be sent if SMSs fail to send because you ran out of SMS tokens.
